Yup I understand your question...if you have DDR3 slots then DDR2 will not physically fit in any of the slots. There were "transition" boards that had both DDR2 and DDR3 slots BUT you could only use one or the other.. if you first used the DDR3 slots then the DDR2 slots wouldn't work even if you put RAM in them.
